Installing a Winch (Electrical)

I bought an installed a 3,000lb winch. The installation was a snap, the only problem that I had was trying to find an ignition wire to tap for the remote control. I ended up tapping off the 10a ignition fuse, but I had to extend the wire to get back that far from the handle bars.

What have you all done when hooking up your winch? All of the wires and connectors in the middle of the bike seemed very sealed.

As you bring your control wiring down into the center of the bike, you can pile all of it under the front center panel of the bodywork. You'll have real easy access to the ignition switch wires down there.

The wire I use is one of the low beam head lights. This way I have to turn the low beam on to power the winch when I need it and when I don't I turn the head lights off and there is no chance of inadvertantly hitting the switch and having the winch spool in or out.

From a place you cannot see comes a sound you will never hear.
