I know this is a really old thread, but.... I'm doing a top end rebuild because of a "Loud pop" followed by white smoke and figured if it has to come apart may as well do the top end... Question is, do I have to hone the cylinder and replace the Piston, or can I just inspect them and if they are good avoid the cost? How do I tell if they are good? I'm not really looking to do anything I dont have to do due to money :-( What say all the pros?
