My engine is smoking really bad. I am going to rebuild the top end and could use some advice. Should I go with OEM 1mm over std or since I will be in the engine, go ahead with the 2mm over std (686)? I know that the pros of 686 is more power but do not know all of the cons. I will be adding a mudbuster cam during this rebuild. Thanks in advance for all the help you guys and gals allways give.

Wow, JJ! This'll start a TON of debating here... Since you're in there, I'd do up a 686cc motor. I'd stay with a 10:1 compression ratio slug so that fuel quality never is an issue. Jasson keeps telling everybody that the Raptor cam might be a better choice, and he has put some dyno numbers in another thread as evidence... Basically the Mudbuster cam gives about 1.5hp more on the bottom-end, they're about even through midrange, and then the Raptor bumpstick is 4hp stronger on top...
But that's just my ignorant opinion....

jj450 .... great timing .... as I might do the same work on my Grizz in a month or so .... but to answer yer question ... I'd go the 686 kit. The cam thing is up to you .... but I picked up a Raptor cam at a pretty good price, so that's the once I'm putt'in in. Along with Raptor cam springs.
Take photo's & let us know what ya run into & how the work goes & then yer riding impressions. I know that's my plan too !! Later ...

I'm in the process of rebuilding the top end on mine. I decided to stay stock. I took the cylinder to work and checked the bore and it was still within specs. I have a Wiseco piston with a wrist pin, clips, rings and a top end gasket kit on order that should be in by the end of the week. I do plan on changing the exhaust, the question is which one?

Well Bayou Griz 660 ..... what pipe to get ? .... that is kinda of a loaded question ............ but, I'll give my 2-cents worth.
I have a Leo Vince X3 pipe & I really like it. I run the quiet core with the spark arrestor screen & it's has a nice throaty sound ... not too loud at all ... almost stock loud but with a better sound. I've heard good things about the HMF Swamp series pipe and a forummember named Crankshaft got one of those & he really like it too. Hammer07 has a Two Brothers pipe I believe ........ So that's 3 pipes &there are a great many out there to choose from. Have fun choos'in. Later ....

i have a Dubach Racing Development (Dr.D) slip on pipe. i like the sound, but it is definitely louder than stock. i have not tried the quiet core for it, but they do have one.
wether it added any power or not? who knows. if it did, it was minimal. but it SOUNDS more powerful! LOL!
