Default plastic fading

I have a green grizzly 700. The plastic is starting to fade. I park it in a shed, so its not the sunlight. Any ideas on what I could put on it?

What are you cleaning it with? Harsh detergents will cause fading. Another thing that will cause fading is using Armor All. If you use this, stop at once and start using STP son of a gun.

Is it getting sunlight at any time of the day? Anytime you have white spots from bent plastics you can use a careful application of a heat gun to bring it back to normal, not sure on chemical fading.

Not sure if it will help the fade, but when i want my green to shine,.. nothing more than tire foam. Spray, let sit, and wip off anything left. Cheap and very affective, looks like it was just waxed. Been using for years , no side affects.

Wow..straight degreaser? Pink stuff and purple power will EAT paint and clearcoats if left sitting to long.... I know... it ate the coating off my alum. wheels.. the tire foam will also clean anything the wash didnt get. And buy the cheap stuff at the dollar,..you dont need name brand for this purpose.

And as far as Armor all goes,..it causes fading in vinyl, especially dashes of cars where heat is intensified by the windshield. And then it shinks and cracks, thats where it got its bad rap from.

When I want to be OCD and have my machine look newish,...Tire foam and then a light spray and wipe of armor all. Looks great! and adds a "waxy" residue for your next ride. You'll notice it as soon as dust hits.

Im not going against what S.A.rinconrider said, ..it MAY fad if let set in the sun day after day, mine is always garaged, so if yours sets outside, take his word for it,

just about any product thats meant to "seep" into a material can heat, expand, contract and freeze. living in Maine, i have to take all of those products out of the unheated garage before they do winter hits.

If you want it to shine use Trim Shine by Stoner, can only get it here at O Reilys auto parts store, spay it on and lightly wipe it off with a soft towel, hides scatches and turns anything black back to a new look,I spray everything top to bottom and it makes it look new again, been useing it for a year now and no problems with plastic or anything. You will be surprised.

My green grizzly was faded too, it was stored outside by the previous owner. I decided to paint it with Krylon Fusion spray paint. So far it's held up much better than I expected it to. It could use a new coat, it's chipped and scratched from various accidents and "getting friendly with trees", but it's held up pretty good. When I repaint it I'll also add a couple coats of clear coat to see if that helps the paint survive any better.

BUMP !!!

Hey, if anyone is interested, I have a full set of 660 plastic ... front & rear fenders, gas tank cover & the side panels I thiink as well.

They were green, but I coverd them with Camo Clad camo covering ... which wasn't done very well. And they have holes already in them for fender flares.

I'll let them go cheap ... problem is, shipping is expensive. But if anyone needs some .....
