The belt is slipping on my 98 griz. I had the clutch rebuilt for $275 a year ago. Slipping again? The first time the belt was saturated in oil apparently. Since I smell something similar to burnig oil (could be burning belt I guess) now I suspect I have the same prob again. So do I have a cracked block leaking oil or do I have to rebuild my clutch every year?

thanks

You might have a leaking seal... I seriously doubt you have a cracked block. If you're not mechanically inclined, have the dealer or somebody pull the crankcase and clutches and see if the seal around the output shaft to the primary clutch is leaking.

that seal was a problem for a couple of years and it is also about the only thing I have seen take the belt out. I don't even have to stock a Grizzly belt yet as I'm lucky if we sell one a year. And we have sold a lot of Grizzly's
