There are about 100 miles of ATV trails in the Black River State Forest and Jackson County Forest near Black River Falls, Wisc. It's mostly sand with some terrain on some trails--but it's mostly fairly flat. I've heard that it gets dusty in the summer. I've ridden it when wet and when snow covered. It's a great ride through the trees with good access to services in Black River Falls.

Been there in the summer a few times not to dusty I think. The sand kind of helps out for that. The ones that gets real dusty is the Cheese County Trail in Monore I think. But anyway I agree Black River is a vary nice place to ride. I did not know they were open in the winter though.

A group of us guys from work are looking at making a trip over to Wisconsin and I am in charge of lining up the riding. I was wondering if there are any good websites to find out where to start from and find maps fo the riding areas. Hotel listings that we are able to ride from would also be great. I assume that we would also have to get registration just like snowmobiling, any help would be great!

Grizzcat...try copying and pasting those web sites in your browser. They are the two counties that are in the start of this thread. Not sure how far or where you guys are wanting to go really, but check thouse out and let me know.

My WI rule book states "if you are regeistered in your state you may operate your atv as long as the decal or proof of reg. is prominently displayed, the atv has not been in WI for more than 15 days, proof of reg. from your state is carried with you and the machine meets the WI defintation of an atv."

Here is the phone number for the DNR central office 608-266-2621

Hope that helps, let me know if you need more.

BTW any good places in MN to ride?
