Hi i'm new here. I have a question about the rear drive shaft boot area. On my 2004 Bruin 350, I have engine oil in the boot. If I pull the boot off, engine oil comes out. It's not the Differential oil. This is definately motor oil. It's done this ever since i've had it(bought it used a year ago).

My question is is this normal?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome joshc09,I am no expert but that dosnt sound right the only thing in their should be grease.
How much oil comes out ang how much is the bike useing.
If I remember right my boss's old 350 big bear did that some years back and it was a seal in the back of the motor or the clutch that had failed,he was puting like 1/2 litre per day in it.

Well I'm almost positive it drains all the oil out. The bike took over 2 and 1/2 quarts of oil. I can't remember exactly.

If I have to get the seal replaced, how much do you think it would cost to get done?

Thanks

If it is using that much oil the cost of the replacement parts will be less than the cost of a new bike ??? about $100.00 depending on labour cost?

Hi sorry I couldn't reply my computer had gone out. Anyways I think i'll be able to replace this oil seal. I THINK this is it: http://www.powerpartsplus.com/pages/parts/home.aspx (if it doesn't come up hit middle drive gear). Looks simple enough as i've dropped the back end off a few times now.

EDIT: Here's the pic: I'm thinking it's part #13
