I'm new to ATVs so please excuse my lack of knowledge. I have an older 450 grizzly that I have owned for 2 yrs now. My question is relating to the choke. The choke lever is below the handle bar on the left side. It is spring loaded so I must hold it open to start it when it's a cold start. Problem is that it won't keep running unless I stay there holding the choke open until the engine warms up. The choke is spring loaded so if I let go of it, it returns to the off position and the bike will die if it's not warmed up. My question is , shouldn't I be able to leave the choke partially on until the bike warms up enough to run without the choke? I am wondering if maybe there is something wrong with the choke itself because it won't stay on. I'm sorry but I don't have the manual to review the cold starting procedure. Thanks to anyone willing to help out a newbie.

No worries, thanks for taking the time to respond. I ordered an owners manual just because I know I should have one. This is the first winter I am planning to use the grizzly more in the winter so I need to get used to starting it in the cold. I'm sure lots of guys use their machine for plowing and ice fishing so I should be able to find some advice on starting in the cold.

According to my manual the choke should have 3 positions. Mine moves back to off as soon as I release the lever. Does anyone else have this design of choke lever? Guess I need to buy a new choke lever assembly?
