I keep reading/hearing of people breaking drive shafts left and right. Is this something that was more apperant in the 02 models? I haven't had a problem yet but I am still running stock tires(on 04 model). I am hoping to go to 26" mudlites Oct. 4th (by b-day). I wouldn't expect any type of shaft problems from such a light tire...I ran 27" 589 (VERY HEAVY) on a rubicon for 1700 miles with ZERO problems and I did nothing but heavy mud and pulling very heaving things like loaded Z71 pickup trucks loaded with lumber up hills because their starter wouldn't engage...

I am getting scared reading all of your posts about the axles snapping...

The Rincon was not what you consider true 4x4 in that it used limited slip diff. and had no locker so you could not "lock it up". It is also known by many as 3 wheel drive...

How did you break your axles??? and what do you mean by "upgrade axles" did yamaha change something in the 2004 models dealing with the axles?
