I own a '99 Grizzly with 2,000 miles on it...i worked it pretty hard recently in mud/snow conditions and then it sat for a few weeks. when i went to start it it just turns over but nothing. i replaced spark plug first. nothing. then i checked fuel...it's getting fuel...then i checked spark, no spark when you put plug to engine, so, i took off plug wire and coil and took to local yamaha shop to see if it's coil...coil tested good but spark plug wire/cap was reading wrong so they sold me a new cap/wire...i put it on and still nothing...starter just turns over...the shop tech said that it's probably the stator?...part is like $239.00 +labor...has anyone replaced this part on their griz? how hard is it?...i don't mind paying the 239 if indeed that's the part that is bad but how do i know for sure?...just trying to save some money the shop will undoubtedly charge...any and all help with the would be greatly appreciated...i need to get the griz up and running ASAP. thanks

Sounds like something is going on with your kill switch. That's the first thing I would investgate. I don't know if the '99 has one, but someone here will know or have a better idea. If the starter is turning over, it is doing it's job.

I ride in a lot of water and mud and twice I have had my on/off switch coroed I took it apart and the first time I just poured diet soda on it worked good for quick fix but ended up putting crc on it it still works fine.

Check your fuses too. I would bet it's not the stator, but something simple. You just have to find it.
