I own a 2003 Gizzly 660 Limited Edition with 26" Mud Lites and a 2500lb winch. I went to ride today and noticed a large pool of gas under the atv. It was coming from the drain(?) hose from the bottom of the carb.I filled the tank up and started the machine. After turning it off, gas was coming from the hose fairly fast, but not at all while it was running. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Also, about a month ago I left my lights on overnight and killed the battery. I could not even attempt to pull start it. Is the pull starter just for looks or is there a little secret somewhere? Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like your Float bowl Might be stuck, and isn't shutting off the gas when it is full. Have you tried shutting off the gas at the petcock(On-Off-Reserve) selector on the side of the tank. If it doesn't leak when you are riding it's probably because you are using it out of the bowl faster than it can build up and leak out. it's pretty easy to remove the bottom of the carb, just 4 screws, and you can check the float to make sure that it isn't full of fuel from a pinhole or hanging up on some sediment.

As for the pull starter, It's somewhat of a joke. I am a pretty good sized guy, and I have trouble pull starting it. Just becareful, that it doesn't recoil to fast. I broke my hand on my honda Foreman when that happened, and had to have surgery to fix it. Not trying to scare you, just becareful..

My float stuck on me while I was out on the trail one day and it did the same thing you describe GrizzGirl. All I had to do was tap on the side of the carb bowl with a screwdriver a couple of times to get it on stuck, it has been fine ever since. Might be a option to try before taking the bowl off.

If that does not fix it then I suggest the same as dnhyoung mentioned. Just becarefull I hear about the cheep screws they use on the float bowl and how the screw heads get striped out real easy. Most people will suggest replacing them with better quality ones.

Hi Grizzgirl,

Take a look at the FORUM,
Grizzly 660 » Drivetrain » Impossible to pull start!

""I had the my salesman show me a trick to start with the pull starter. He stepped up on the step and pulled the rope till it gets impossible, probably bout a foot then release it back in, then give it a pull and viola it should start up. I just went and tried it and it does work. Let me know if it works for you. ""

I hope this helps!!

Regards
