For those interested:
After doing a little shopping at the dealers for extra fuel for the long adventures, I have devised a low cost alternative that I like much better and felt I should share it.
I have found that one can mount a nearly standard 5 gallon tank off the trailer hitch of a 02 or newer grizzly. This keeps the racks clean and maintains a low center of gravity for better handling. I have trialed this mounting for over a 100 miles in the steep, rough and rugged terrain of the Huron Mountains bordering Lake Superior, Upper Peninsula, Michigan. I have found that the extra 5 gallons really takes the worry out of running out of fuel on those long day trips into wilderness country.
